Images depict groups of men, women, and children in the tennis courts and gardens of the Conard residence. People are shown both seated and standing. The majority of the images were taken in the same corner of the tennis courts. Very few of the tennis players have been identified.

The first tennis group of Sierra Madre formed in 1888. There is no information discussing the tennis activities that took place between the formation of the first group and the early 1910s, when a second tennis club was established. From roughly 1914 to 1936, this group played tennis at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Francis P. Conard, located at 33 West Mira Monte.
